NOTLICHT! NOTLICHT! Prepare to party online!


On Saturday the 10th of October 2020, get comfy in your sofa and have some chilled drinks with us while we stream directly to your homes. Presenting a Demoshow of Nordlicht’s finest releases from the past eight years, plus the latest demoscene works in a series of tense online competitions. We’ll be streaming via Twitch. Get your entries ready NOW and beam them up!
 
This Year’s online competition’s 1st place winners will receive Nordlicht Demoparty Tickets for our Anniversary Party next year!

Compo stream info: We’ll be broadcasting your entries live on Twitch.tv on 10th October starting at 20:00 CEST. You are required to provide a video capture for your demo alongside the executable. If you don’t provide a video, then we’ll attempt to capture the demo for you but it may turn out poorly. Video will be streamed in 1920×1080 resolution with 60fps whenever possible.
 
If your PC demo requires something beefier than a GTX1060 graphics card and you cannot provide a video capture yourself, then you should get in touch with us ASAP!


 
 

General Compo Rules (All Competitions)

  • Only one entry per person in each category
  • Minimum of 3 entries per competition required for it to happen, else it may be combined / cancelled
  • You, your group and your entry must not be registered with a copyright society (GEMA, BIEM etc)
  • Fees charged by a copyright society caused due to ignoring above rule will be passed on to the artist
  • Only original works which you hold all rights to are allowed, NO unlicensed / protected material!
  • Racism, child pornography, any kind of content that violates german law will be disqualified
  • Your entry must not have been released at another party or anywhere else previously
  • There is no filesize limit for your entry unless stated otherwise, please use common sense here
  • Please .zip or .rar your entry and include an info file in your archive, this helps us identify your prod
  • Optionally, provide a message / greetings for us to show on the stream during compos
  • We reserve the right to disqualify any submission that we deem inappropriate for any reason
  • All released entries will be made available on scene.org after the online stream

 

512 Byte Compo (WE DO IT AGAIN!)

  • All platforms allowed, but for Non-PCDOS entries you MUST provide a video capture alongside the executable!
  • You may also provide a hopefully preconf’d emulator, if possible. If your prod runs on standard DosBox 0.74, just pack the .config file
  • Your entry must consist of a single file with a hard limit of 512 bytes
  • If 512 bytes are not your shoesize but you are into even smaller footprints instead, this is still the right compo for you! We will make sure to display the size of every entry on the beamslide

 

GFX Compo (Oldschool)

  • Entry must run on oldschool hardware (C64, OCS Amiga, NES, SNES, Genesis etc.)
  • Entries for platforms without standardized image formats (Atari XL, C64 etc.) must be submitted as executable programs, otherwise standard formats such as .IFF for Amiga are fine
  • Include at least 4 “plausible” work stages for your submission and some backgroundinformation about how it was created e.g. which system and tools used

 

GFX Compo (Newschool)

  • Use any graphics tool you want, rendered or drawn images
  • Hand-drawn pictures must be scanned with at least 300dpi, NO photographs!
  • Include at least 4 work stages for your submission and some background information about how it was created e.g. which system and tools used

 

Realtime Demo Compo (Oldschool)

  • No maximum filesize, but please use common sense here
  • C64, Amiga, Atari, GP2X, GameBoy, DTV and others. If in doubt – ask us!
  • You MUST provide a video capture alongside the executable!
  • You may also provide a hopefully preconf’d emulator, if possible.
  • Maximum showing time: 8:00 minutes
  • Don’t forget to include any custom libraries your production may require!

 

Realtime Demo Compo (Newschool)

  • No maximum filesize, but please use common sense here
  • PC-Win 32/64 or PC-Linux 32/64 (for others, get in touch!)
  • You MUST provide a video capture alongside the executable file!
  • Maximum showing time: 8:00 minutes
  • Don’t forget to include any custom libraries your production may require!

 
 

Insane Combined Music Compo Mash Up (updated Oct. 1st to include tracker formats)

  • All styles. Anything goes. Surprise us! No copyright infringement, though!
  • Accepted formats: WAV, FLAC, MP3 and EXE. Tracker formats, too! (default xmplay playback settings: sinc, no ramp, 70% Stereo) Lossless formats preferred!
  • In some cases, you may want to upload your file to dropbox or similar and then just email us a link
  • Executable music MUST have a WAV writer included
  • Maximum playing time: 5 Minutes

The deadline for remote submissions has passed on Wednesday, 7th October at 23:59 CEST. (latest!)
Compos may be combined / cancelled if there are not enough entries in one of the categories.
If there are too many entries in a category, preselection will apply
