What's the DEMOSCENE, anyway?

Check out this Wikipedia page for the full low-down, then swing back here, or jump right in and register once the inspiration hits!

So… what is NORDLICHT?

Nordlicht is our home-grown demoparty, crafted by scene die-hards who’ve soaked up the magic of classic gatherings. It’s where digital artists, coders, musicians, animators and film‑makers collide to swap ideas, spark creativity and celebrate the Demoscene in style.

“We’re all kids at heart who like to party hard!”

Born at a tiny meet‑up in Bremen back in March 2012 (two weeks before Revision!), Nordlicht filled the northern‑Germany party gap left since Siliconvention ’97 — and word spread fast. Ever since, visitors from across Europe have joined the fun.

Why no Intro / Size-Restricted Demo Compo?

Once upon a time we didn’t have enough real‑time entries for three separate size categories, so we merged them into two. Lately, though, we’ve unleashed a dedicated 512-byte compo and live coding jams!

Road-tripping to Bremen, where do I park?

Easy: heaps of spaces ring the Bürgerhaus. A few might close overnight, so double-check the signs before you kill the engine.

Can I pitch a tent on that lush green patch by the hall?

Sorry, campers. This time the grass is strictly for admiring, not inhabiting! But don't worry: With all the round-the-clock action inside, you won't miss your sleeping bag for long!

Do you have showers on-site?

YES! - Rejoice! Our shiny new venue comes equipped with hot-water power-ups, so you can rinse off pixel dust and dive straight back into the party.

Can’t make it in person, will you take remote entries?

We’ll miss you… but yes! Check our submissions page for the how‑to and wow us from afar.

I’m a DJ / live musician, can I rock your stage?

Heck yes! Drop us a line well before the event with your idea, and we’ll lock you into the 2025 lineup.
